About Wake County Court Records

Court records in Wake County are split by record type, building, and custodian. The Clerk of Superior Court keeps Superior Court and District Court case files, the Register of Deeds issues marriage licenses and certified marriage certificates, and the Sheriff's Office manages jail and law-enforcement records. We built this site so Wake County users can find the right portal, address, or phone number without bouncing between agency pages.

Why We Built This Site

North Carolina gives the public broad access to many records, but Wake County uses a unified court structure that can be confusing at first. The Clerk of Superior Court keeps Superior Court and District Court files and also acts as judge of probate for estates. The Justice Center handles criminal matters, traffic, misdemeanors, felonies, and marriages, while the courthouse handles civil and estate business. The Sheriff's Office, Register of Deeds, N.C. eCourts Portal, and state vital-record offices each cover different records. This site organizes those offices, portals, fee notes, and request steps by record type.

What You Will Find Here

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to the North Carolina Judicial Branch, Wake County courts, the Wake County Sheriff's Office, the Register of Deeds, or any state agency. There are real limits to what we can help with:

  • We cannot file paperwork or send records requests on your behalf
  • We cannot issue certified copies of any court document or vital record
  • We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific case applies to you
  • We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or address listed on this site is current right now

Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point you to the right office, but the document has to come from them.

Search Partners

Some pages on this site include search boxes powered by third-party providers. Those companies set their own pricing and run their own services. When you use one of those tools and it leads to a paid signup, we may earn a referral fee. That revenue helps keep this site free for visitors. We do not control what those tools charge or what shows up in their results.
